Sunset Monsoons
You know, I am not Arizona’s largest fan. I don’t like the flat boring landscapes and the annoying lack of what ‘I’ consider beautiful plant life, but even I will admit it has a few minor… crap kids broke my train of thought… Well, it has a few redeeming factors… that’s what I was going to say before they barged in the house soaking wet after playing the the rain and screamed happily.
So enjoy one of the redeeming factors… sadly there isn’t a beautiful jet taking off from the AFB in this shot, but maybe next time… it’s probably just the lightning storm overhead.
Tombstone AZ
I love history, I always have. So I like to go and see the small things that remind us how truly young and flimsy our existence is. Tombstone was no exception. Nothing really is there from the original, though one building is about 70% the original structure. In my opinion this town does a shabby attempt at recreating historical… hmm… feel, I suppose it what they are going for. The shops are fun to visit, but fairly silly. The museums, such as the courthouse etc… are a good place to see any real artifacts since you won’t see any real historical items in the actual main street town area. The horses are incredibly inaccurate, save for the one team of mules. They have way to many drafts in that town for my tastes, since drafts didn’t make it out west in mass until MUCH later, except in specialized circumstances, but they were rarely pure blood or in any real numbers sufficient for breeding. The stage ride was fun though Percherons are ridiculously slow for the truly historical feel of being in one. I could have walked faster than Carl and Clem. Though the beautiful grays (one dapple and one fleabitten) were the reason I chose that particular coach.
Sadly I didn’t get to see the original silver mine like I wanted to, but perhaps next time.I will remember to take some Alieve before I leave the house, hopefully that will keep the swelling down in my knee. I missed several places I would have liked to have seen, so for those of you reading this… if you plan to visit tombstone, give yourself at least 2 days so that you can actually enjoy it.
If you do get there though I highly recommend the shows. The one in particular that we saw was at the actual site of the Tombstone gunfight. You will find a few pictures of it below. While I think the story is likely as accurate as any other show (There is no way to know what actually happened. Even supposed eye witness accounts are likely to be biased or even flat out false), the actor that plays Doc Holiday, however is phenomenal. He was a true pleasure to watch! It was worth the 3 hour drive there and back, and I very much look forward to doing it again.

Just putting in some stuff… I can’t wait till I have a phone capable of macro photo’s.
